Why hard work isn't enough

Hi there,
When confronted with a really difficult task or goal you set out for yourself,
do you try to push through with hard work and harsh self-criticism?
And still not see any major improvement?
If so,
you might be doing more harm than good.
That’s why today, I like to show you a different approach.
Which will let you achieve your goals with ease and speed.
Without you having to bang your head against the wall,
and instead use a smarter, more efficient way.
A way that will allow you to achieve greater results,
while still staying positive and avoiding burnout!

Now, picture yourself in this hot air balloon.
Your hard work fuels the fire that makes you rise,
but if there’s too much fire (hard work),
You will get exhausted and demotivated.
The balloon will explode!
But even if you get the amount of hard work right,
the balloon might still not be rising.
That means that there’s something else,
acting as a heavy anchor,
that is keeping you grounded.
It’s: Self-criticism.
Many people (like I use to) believe that being hard on themselves will lead to greater success.
And NO, I am not saying to stop working hard,
but self-criticism is not the answer.
Because it drains your energy, lowers your confidence, and makes it harder to stay motivated.
The best way to cut this restraint?
Self-compassion.
Self compassion is about treating yourself with the same kindness, understanding, and support that you would offer to a good friend.
Studies show that self-compassionate individuals are:
more resilient,
less stressed,
and more successful!
So keep in mind that when things are not going your way,
the key is to remember not to give up during tough times,
but also to be kind to yourself.
Because that will keep you moving forward!
So cut that anchor with self compassion.
And fly far into the horizon!
Cheers Loes
